Onchopristis Tooth, Pre-historic Ancestor to Modern Sawfish, Genuine Tooth, Fossilized, Worldwide Shipping
For sale is an Onchopristis tooth. The Onchopristis was a larger, pre-historic ancestor to the modern day sawfish and is estimated to have grown up to 10m (33 feet) long with a snout measuring 2m-3m in length (6 to 9 feet). This fish is unique in that it had its eyes on the top of its head (rather than in front of its head) to allow it to better spot predators circling above. This type of fish is believed to have existed during the middle to late Cretaceous era. These teeth originate from Morocco.
- These teeth measure about 1.75 to 2 inches long on average and may differ slightly from what is pictured in the photos.
- Onchopristis is classed as a cartilaginous fish
